If you haven't used a set before be sure someone coaches you the first time on what is about the right feel. Basically you are feeling for light drag on the gauge that is the correct thickness. Some engines are done at TDC and some a specified piston drop past TDC.

Get a reasonable set. Like $7 thru Amazon.

Yes, & be sure to be reading a SAE scale on the thickness of the the feelers.. & NOT the mm (millimeters)..

I have a small cheap one it start at .010
That's 10 thousandths, too large already, need a set to starts around .002" & up......
