Pictures show that its a fx850v (marked 31 hp) no rops in pictures. Thought on price and what to ask/look for when I go to check it out. Also thoughts on the 66 in. deck pros/cons

Price is fair with those hours if it's in the shape it sounds like it is.

Ask about maintenance, see if they seem to have done what they should. Check it out for leaks, see if it's been greased. Drive it and see how she moves. I've never had a SZ of a few years of age have th ROPS on.

I am just a home owner and would like the rops to use for mounting a top cutting ten acres with less than a dozen trees where I will be cutting

Sounds like a fair deal if the mower is in good shape. The super z is a great mower. There is a very good thread on here called "things to look for when buying a used mower". You may want to check it out. Gives a great check list to go by.

That engine is actually a 27hp now. If you mow very regularly/weekly it should be enough engine but if the grass gets long it will probably slow things up.
Check for oil leaks around the governor (in general really).
It has low hours (if genuine) so you should be good for a long while.

These machines are generally good for 12 to 1300hrs depending on terrain theyve been operated on.
Even though it has low hours I would still be changing the hydro oil and filter so factor that into your price. Its probably had one hydro oil change in 6yrs. Not something to rush into but again, just something to think about.
Thing is, the biggest issues with Super Z's are they hydros. Do everything you can to avoid premature problems!

Something else to look at is due to the age, the flex forks may be sagging by now. Check the deck pitch. Thats not a reason not to buy the machine but something to look at!

If you get the machine, try and find the Flex Seat base! You can thank me later! :laughing:
