unable to get blades to engage on my Ariens riding lawnmower

I was mowing and noticed that they would engage but with hesitation. I stopped to fill up and when I went to start again, they would not engage at all. PLEASE, someone, help me!!!

make sure the belt is on the pulleys right ...But to me it sounds like its time for a new belt they stretch and wear out after awhile and don't buy the cheap ones they don't last ..Buy the cavlair ones the last a heck of allot longer then the standard belts do mine last from 5 to 6 years

Check the deck belts and if they are still routed correctly. When you post back include your units model numbers.
