I have a 22" Toro 20071 Recycler that I am trying to get back up and running that I got back from my ex wife, so I'm not sure what all it's really been through. I know it's been stored for the last few years, but the last time she used it, she said it was working fine and doesn't recall having any problems with it.

The belt guard was bent, so for the time being I just removed it. The belt looks good but I went ahead and replaced the blade adapter. When the blade is off, or loosely bolted on, it will spin ok. However, when I tighten the blade bolt up snug, it becomes very difficult to turn the blade. Trying to pull start the motor, it is too hard to pull in one spot. Every time I pull it stops on that one spot and I can't get a good pull. Very hard to pull... the first time I managed to get it to fire up for a second, but no dice after that. I have checked the flywheel key and it looks like it's ok still. The Recoil pull starter looks ok to me as well. any suggestions?

What I've replaced on it so far...
blade adapter, carburetor, spark plug, oil, gas.

Sounds like your problem is around the blade adapter. Check to make sure it is not binding on the bottom of the engine as you torque it. Possibly the wrong adapter or a washer or spacer missing?
