I bought a used Troy Built Pony riding lawn mower and it ran fine for a while after I replaced the starter solenoid. Then I started noticing it getting more and more sluggish while going up hill. Eventually it got to the point that after maybe halfway up the incline it just would not go any further no matter what gear I put it in. However, I found that if I put it in reverse it goes up the same inclines with no problem at all. Any ideas?

We need the model number from the serial number tag to see what drive system you got. Most likely it is the CVT system but could be one with a hydrostatic transaxle or a true multi-speed manual transaxle.

Also look on the transmission/frame, and see if a bolt connecting the two is missing, other than the 4 at the axles.
