I am the owner of an excellent TroyBilt LTX-1842 with 345hrs (i bought it new). It has recently developed a problem which I have been unable to solve (so far).
When driving it the mower suddenly looses propulsion, but, before it has time to stop, it regains power. The engine is unaffected however, and remains at the proper RPM. This bother is not accompanied by the smell of burning rubber, however, which usually signifies a frozen pulley.

Any help would be appreciated,

I would check the drive belt and variable speed pulley. Remove battery box and take a look see.
