just purchased the mower today from an ad. About 8 years old he said. Started cutting, ran fine, then almost finished the back yard when I stopped, put it in neutral, moved a rock. put it back in gear ....... nothing. wouldn't move. repeatedly tried fwd, rev, off, on ....... wouldn't move. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Never had a riding mower before. Motor seems to run fine just won't move.

ILENGINE
Look up underneath and check the belts there are two. One runs from the engine to a variable pulley, and they other goes from the variable pulley to the transmission pulley. One may have come off or broken.
If the rear belt has come off before putting it back on, check the front transmission support bolts they will either be on the front corners or maybe a plate in the center middle with a bolt or two going into the tranny. If those bolts are missing it will allow the tranny to rock and through the belt off. Also will cause the frame to crack at the axle mounting flanges.
