My 917.271110 Craftsman lawn tractor has two serious issues:
When the blower deck is attached, the steering effort goes thru the roof. I am barely able to muscle the thing into a turn and it's particularly difficult in reverse. What can I do to lighten the load? I've blown the tires up to recommended pressure and greased the king pins and front spindles. I know that with snow on the ground and the blower lowered onto its shoes the steering will get easier but it is overpowering!!
The shifting system for the 6-speed transaxle is very vague. I suspect the linkage is worn and want to replace the bad parts. Any ideas about where to start?
