transmission problems.

iam working on my friends cub cadet 1020. he says he was mowing and it just stoped. the engine runs fine it just won't move at all. not forward or reverse.
I looked and it has fluid in the tranny. but I didn't get undr it yet. does it have a belt to the transmission or is it hydrolic. it says 1020 hydro on the side.
whatever do they just go bad all of a sudden like that.

it has a belt off the motor to the hydro.

What do you mean "all of the sudden?" This thing is 25y/o! Check V-belt (size 1/2" x 80" SL....BTW). Check drive belt idler and spring.

tried everything, the pulley is turning the belt is alright. so iam pulling the motor and junking the rest. thanks.
