I have a cub cadet ltx1040 and the transmission stays engaged with the brake/clutch pedal pushed all the way down. When I force the transmission into neutral and then try to put it in gear again with the brake/clutch pedal pushed all the way down it engages the gear immediately. What could be the cause of this?
I did take the transmission off and open it to see if the shifting lever had popped out of it's groove, and it had not.
Sounds like the drive belt isn't being disengaged when you push the clutch pedal down. Wrong or improperly installed belt if just changed. Or the linkage has came loose preventing it from taking tension off of the belt. or maybe just an adjustment issue in the linkage.
The drive belt was recently changed, and since then, the gas pedal is hard to press down. Prior to that though, it was difficult to get the transmission in gear, however, it never was this difficult, nor would it stay engaged with the brake/clutch pedal pushed down. I will put the old belt back on and see what happens. Thank you for the help with this.....
MTD/Cub Cadet require the use of OEM belts or OEM style replacement belts since they have unique characteristics that a standard off the shelf belt doesn't
