Bone, Saw your reaquest in the unaswered so maybe this bump will help. Don't know your trans, but sound like seals to me unless housing cracks , somehow. Try you tube with different search words . I did see someone dismantle a hydrostatic trans there, and interesting it was. Hope someone helps you.

The part number for the axle seals is 921-0338 and the seal behind the brake disc is part number 721-0213. There is no seal on the shifter, and is not unusual to have some leakage around the shifter. All parts are available through MTD.

Those sealed units are not made to be repaired. (at least not without splitting the case)... They seem to be built to get past warranty & then start leaking..

My former '08 craftsman had a Dana (made in china) in it.. It started leaking at the axles right after warranty.. I replaced it with a Peerless unit. Which worked fine, but at the 6 year point I sold it off..

bonecracker93-

I agree with you.. I should have never sold my 1998 Craftsman GT, it is still running fine..

Everything craftsman now seems to be coming from china..

One person on the phone from Sears once told me that if they never break down, you don't but new ones..

My neighbor has a 48" Husqvarna & seems to like it a lot..

I jumped over to Toro..
