have a husqvara m-zt-52 model 967177001, the owner tells me that hydraulic broke not sure when they found this out, they taped tank and added hydraulic fluid to tank and was told they vented the transmission. dropped off at shop was told that after running for few minutes there is grinding noise from transmission, this gives me the indication that the pump has gone bad, so looking for inputs if i am correct and is worth repairing the transmission since new one is 1400 dollars, looking for any inputs thanks

Hello ACF,

That is not grinding, it is fluid bypassing internally inside the motor due to wear or a choked oil filter. This unit has a separate right and a left transmission, each with an internal pump. The one that was run out of oil was possibly run too long in that condition. The swash plate and plungers have likely worn in badly and are now bypassing fluid.

Has the spin on oil filters been changed on each transmission? That should be done first, and the leak corrected.

If the leak can be corrected, I would say just change filters, then fill it with hydraulic fluid or 20W 50 oil and run it until she totally fails. I've seen a few run a lot of hours before totally quitting.

Is each the fluid reservoir currently full of fluid, or is it just a broken hose from the reservoir to the transmission leaking out?

The transmissions are about $1400 dollars just for one unit on Parts tree. Add labor and it easily shoots up over $2000 dollars.

These transmissions have an information label hidden on the upper inboard housing that gives you the information of the maker. Husqvarna does not make these transmissions. Locate that label and see if the company sells direct or repair parts are available.
