Ztr not meant to take trailers. you can damag e the transmission assy.
But if you still wish too just make a bracket for the back with a hole to take a pin but not really a good idea to tow.

I wouldn't be towing anything heavy. I mow some yards in my neighborhood with a lawn tractor now so I just carry a blower, edger, weed whacker and a gas can. Would a zero turn be able to tow that with out damaging anything?

I agree with pug, not recommend towing. What does your owners manual say about towing? If your hydro reservoirs are not large enough they will over heat causing major expenses.

I don't actually have a zero turn. I am just looking into getting one and was wondering about the trailer.

If you buy one and it does not say that you can tow with it, you will void your warranty if something goes wrong.

The Ferris dealer that I bought mine from says that there is a hitch attachment option available for the Ferris ZTR's. I have seen at least one trailer being pulled by a ZTR mower while on a motorcycle trip. It had a wide single swivel wheel similar to the front wheels of the mower. I almost turned around and asked where he got it.

Do you like your ferris? What is good and bad about it?

Do you like your ferris? What is good and bad about it?

I love my Ferris ISP 500 52" . I mainly bought the Ferris initially because of the spring suspension and the heavy built frame and deck. I tried out a Snapper, and a Cub Cadet model of similar size over rough ground, and there was a noticeable difference in how smooth the Ferris was. With that stiff suspension on the Ferris, I thought initially that I wouldn't see that much difference in ride quality. With my bad back it was a big plus. It's one thing to be able to go fast, but another to be able to stand the bumps while doing so. Here are the negatives;

The smaller size mowers are only available with a rigid mount front axle that pivots in the center. While there are springs and shocks on each end, they do little control ride. You have to go up to a larger mower to get 4 wheel independent suspension.

The seat had solid rubber cushion mounts that did little to help ride. I replaced them with a set of springs from a junk mower.

The mower only came with the B&S engine as a power plant. I would have liked to have had a Kohler Command as an option.

Other than that, I have no other complaints. The mower does everything that I ask of it as far as mowing. I even do some of the work that I used to do with my tractor and bush hog.

Have you used any kubotas or exmarks?

Brother-in-law has a 60" Kubota diesel ZTR that I have used, but $11k was out of my budget. He previously owned a Toro ZTR and a Dixon. He loves his Kubota, but has since had some reservations buying another mower of that size. He, like me, agrees that you can have too big of a mower, but had to get that size in order to get a diesel engine at that time.

I tried out an Exmark and it seemed to be a little jerky for my tastes. Same with the JD's. Mowers are a little like cars and motorcycles.....you just have to check them out to see what suits you best personally.

I towed carts and even my golf cart trailer many times with my snapper zrider(13hp 33 inch deck). 15 years and no issues. It had eaton 778 hydros which I believe are definitely residential units.

What was too big about it? Jut the deck?

#14

B

Yes, just the deck size. It doesn't fit between a lot of things and finds himself having to use the push mower more than he'd like. I miss quoted his deck size above and have corrected it. He has the 60 in deck.

The 60 is too big? I found a 2007 Kubota ZD331 with a 60" deck and 82 hours for $2700. That seems pretty cheap to me. Do you think it would be worth buying?

Don't sound bad to me. If it checks out good, then go for it. Hard to beat a Kubota in any model.

The only problem is that if I decide to but it I won't be able to look at it first because it is like a 14 hour drive away from me. Should I not buy it since I can't look at it first?

I buy motorcycles online, but I set myself some strict rules when I do.

(1) If I don't fully trust the seller .....deals off, period.

(2) Pictures, pictures, pictures.

(3) The seller has to guarantee everything to be in working order, or that he's told me about every known issue that it may have.

(4) under no circumstances will I drive that far unless I'm getting it for at least 33%cheaper than the price of one local.

Personally, I'd keep shopping locally, but that is me.

I think the offer was a scam. Thanks for the advice.
