Having trouble deciding ? It seems that toro offers less for the buck. Why? When snapper pr offers the 25 hp vanguard and the 5400 hydros. Toro offers 10 hp kaw fx and the 3400 hydros. Am I missing something. Please help me understand my buying decision.

I have a 2012 snapper pro s150xt with a20hp Kawi fx engine and the 48" deck. The zt5400 hydros really helped with my decision as I have some slopes to mow. I was afraid the 20 hp engine may be under powered, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has plenty of power. Snapper pro, ferris, and simplicity are all owned by Briggs & Stratton, and do offer a variety of engine options. The vanguard is a great engine, and the s150xt is a well made mower. The s125xt would probably be more compare able to the z master 2000. The s150xt should compare to the master 3000. Both are fine mowers, but the s150xt is rated to mow faster, and the bigger hydros do help on slopes.

How much are you mowing, and what kind of obstacles are you dealing with?

2-3 acres 3 times a month, 10 residential yards, and one commercial bank property with ditch embankment

I mow a little over 4 acres with mine. Has rough areas, some slopes, and a lot of trees, shrubs, and other obstacles. My best time to date is two hours and fifteen mins. Leaves a great cut and handles the slopes well. Very well built mower. It should handle what your doing with ease. As I said earlier they are both very good mowers, but the s150xt can mow up to 10 mph, and the z master 2000 is rated at 8 to 8.5 mph. I can say the s150xt will mow that fast, but if it gets rough you may have a hard time staying in the seat lol. Getting the suspension insert for mine this winter.

Got mine for about $5500 in 2012. New ones have gone up a little. I believe they are a little over $6000 now.
