Hello I have a toro recycler leaking oil. Model number 20332 the build date is 1209 and is a Briggs and strattan 190 cc engine. So it's about 4 years old. I will post pics of the leak. Wondering if anyone have an idea where it's coming from and what should I do?

Thanks in advance....

Yes there is oil above the blade that has dripped when the engine is running. And I attached 2 more pics.

Look at that black metal plate right above the muffler, see if there are some numbers there. Or else, on the metal part above the spark plug, under the plastic tops..

It is likely the bottom seal and the oil is slung everywhere else by running the engine. Did you hit anything? Does the mower vibrate badly/at all??

Got that problem myself........ If it isn't the shaft seal, then it is likely the engine base gasket, which means you need to pull the engine..

Engine model number should be on a tag attached to engine.

Check to see if the seal between the dipstick tube and the base.

Take off the muffler guard, and muffler. Behind the muffler, you'll see a small rectangular plate screwed onto the side of the engine. This is the access to the valve springs (don't mess here, not the problem), but the plate is also the engine crankcase vent! This cover has a thick cork-metal-cork gasket that has failed. When that gasket leaks the oil dribbles out right where you pictured it. Easy job to do yourself and just a few bucks for the gasket. Be sure the engine (NOT the mower) model numbers are correct so you get the correct gasket. The engine numbers are under the plastic decorative cover on top of the engine, stamped into the fan housing. Happy mowing!

Oppps---I see in #15 you've got the engine numbers nailed. Way to go!

Re: Toro recycler 22" mod# 20333

I have a toro recycler 22" personal pace mower purchased in 2010. I had the transmission fixed at the last part of last season. The other day I went to use the mower and it worked fine for a while but now the self propel won't disengage. This is the 2 wheel drive model. I tried to spray some WD 40 on the cable going in to the transmission but there isn't much room in there to maneuver. Do I just loosen the cable on the side of the pushbar or try something else?
