I acquired an "inoperable" toro recycler from someone that I got running nicely after a carb and tank clean out. The mower has throttle control lever with choke, but the lever won't stay in the choke position unless the mower is running which sort of defeats the purpose of having it lol. Any ideas? The cables for the throttle all seem too be moving freely without obstruction. I'm not home now but i can post model number later if necessary. Thanks!
I know, what I meant was when the mower is off (cold) the lever won't stay in the choke position, rendering the choke un-useable. After pulling the cord a million times to start the mower choke-less and get the mower running, if I mess with the lever it will move into and stay in the choke position. But only once the mower is already running, which obviously takes away the purpose of the choke in the first place. Will post model number shortly.
You have an LMS carb on your engine. My guess is you are missing the choke return spring, part number 260870. Sorry to say that part is no longer available for your 25 year old engine. I suggest your go to your local repair shop with your numbers and see if they can help you find a substitute spring. Your best bet is to find an old timer who knows these carbs. Sorry I don't have any better news.
