I need help, I have a Toro 22 inch Personal Pace mower. It started having problems with the drive, wheels locking up, even some snap rings and washers came off the rear end. So I decided to do an over haul. New transmission, belt, wheels, gears, washers and snao rings, all new and the right parts. I even followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSaNVZaUi-k its my mower eactly. Al went well mower worked great, mowed the lawn and bam now the left rear wheel locks up when trying to push without the drive engaged. I check my work and everything was still in place. Any ideas or should I just back over it with my truck.

Toro | did you grease all moving parts pinion gears, shaft, etc. when you put it back together? I watched video, they left out most important part greasing gears as well as all moving parts. Running moving parts dry will not only cause problems but shorten life of parts. Heat & friction buildup on mower parts is common.

I'll give that a try ...thanks

STOP, the only parts which need grease on that system is inside the gear case and a very, very light coat under the drive gear. Absolutely NO grease or oil on the teeth of the drive gear or gear on the wheels. Post your model and serial numbers and I should be able to help you with your problem.

Try the clutch key on that wheel may be worn or the wrong way around needs to be a very smooth action to not stick.

On that model I suspect that the bearing and/or retainer inside the HOC are worn. This will not allow the drive gear to not mesh properly with the wheel gear. Anytime I work on one of these systems, I automatically replace both parts on both sides. No need to put a light coat of grease under the drive gear on this model, as it does not turn freely.
