I did a quick search & didn't see anything covering this, so here goes.
I have an 2005 or 06 Toro LX50 with hydrostatic drive. I've had it for about 3 years, and its been a great mower. I do regular maintenance on it, and I've changed the mower blade belt, the steering gear assembly, a couple tires, and I change oil every year before I winterize it.
On flat ground & going up hills it runs great & pulls hard. Lately I've noticed that going down hill it will buck & makes a popping noise until I slow down to almost a stop. It sounds like its coming from the rear end, like the mower is trying to keep itself from going too fast down hill. This is very annoying since my yard has a decent slope and as such, half the time I'm mowing downhill.
I have the manual, but could find nothing that covers this. Any insight on what to check next?
