When you release the bail handle, two things happen, your coil gets grounded stopping spark, and a brake is applied to the flywheel. I'm not familiar with the particular set up on the Kohler XT675, but i would look to see if the coil kill wire is being grounded when the bail handle is in the released position, it's usually isolated from ground with a plastic insulator, and when the handle is released a metal lever makes contact with a tab the kill wire is hooked to and shorts the coil to ground killing spark.

I will check that tomorrow.

Darn I wish people stop guessing. The brake pad is worn out. It is the electrical kill device and brake at the same time. The solution is to replace the brake assy. Now I going back in suspension.

But the brake pad being worn wouldn't keep the engine from stopping (,cutting spark )right?
edit:
doh, brain dead fart, it grounds through the pad doesn't it.
OP disregard my post and listen to StarTech.

Scrubcadet is right. Have someone engage\disengage the bar and you watch what happens on the other end. the brake\kill wire are not engaging. It might just need a little oil or something. When u push the brake and it stops, do u feel like you are pulling the cable?? Maybe the cable is snagging and not releasing??? The spring is pretty strong so doubt that is worn out.

Thank you StarTech and everybody else. I order brake assembly, because look thin.
