Toro gts 2 cycle 21" pow-r-drive model 16785 1985 Suzuki 47PE4-1 engine won't run

Hi
I have been working on this mower the last couple of days. It will start with starting fluid. Took out Air filter, cleaned air filter box, put in new foam (not OEM), I drained gas, cleaned fuel tank, blew out intank fuel filter (didn't see an inline filter), Put in fresh 50:1 gas oil mix with about 1/2 oz of Seafoam, Put new spark plug w/ .32 gap, Took off carb bowl and cleaned it, & sprayed carb cleaner in carb. Couldn't figure out how to get cables off carb to remove the whole thing so I just left it alone. Will start with starting fluid for about 2 seconds...then kills...so I am assuming I have spark.
Any suggestions????
Thanks,
Satori

I'd guess that the carb is clogged. The Suzuki engine is great and powerful  ... but prone to carb clogging.

Once you get it clean and it runs fine you should be careful about getting dirt in the fuel system. And install an inline fuel filter (inexpensive and easy to install.)

You may want to read this thread in the Toro forum about your Suzuki-Toro.

Hi Two Stroke,
I started to list this Mower on CL and had seen that tread you mentioned above. Figured I would give it a shot at fixing it. I have worked on 1 other mower my whole life so, this is a challenge for me. Carb really didn't look that bad...However, I want to take the carb off to clean it but not sure how to get the cable off carb.... (throttle I'm guessing & ?) Any suggestions
Thanks :)....I really want to see this thing run!!!

I can't remember exactly how I got the carb off (it's been about three or four years.) I remember it was hard because I had to remove some of the throttle linkage. Getting the tank out of the way may also help. You may want to take a photo (or two) of the linkage before removing it so you know what it's supposed to look like.

If you have an air compressor you could try blowing air through any of the passages that you can get to without removing the carb.

I hope you don't give up easily -- it's a very good engine that's no longer available new.

Hi Two-Stroke,
Took your advice... Not to give up and to blow out passages. I also took off bowl, needle valve screw, and re blew all fuel lines Was still not able to figure out how to get the linkage off carb to completely remove it. However I did soak it the best I could in and out with Deep Creep by Seafoam...The Video is the result...Not sure if it's running right but it starts, runs and cuts grass :)!
Thanks for the encouragement! (NOT SURE IF WILL LET ME POST VIDEO????) BYW...what should the needle screw be set at???

With all two-cycle engines I adjust the main jet so that the engine performs best under load when warmed up -- a trial and error process.
