Hi all, 1st post here. Found the forum after searching for Tecumseh engines.

Was recently given a Toro 8-25. model # 56123 with a blown Tecumseh. Figured since it was a freebie, I'd take it and do a repower since the rest of the mower is in great shape.

After a ton of internet searching, I'm stumped! I have found these engines are no longer made. Whats even more frustrating is finding any info on what I can replace that engine with?

Have not gotten into looking at the engine at all, just know there is a hole in the block. Will be pulling the engine in the next few days.

According to the model # its a 1989.

i would look on the net or at some dealers and see if you can find a rebuildable one or a good used one but yes tecumseh is a defunct company so there no longer made but you should be able to adapt a briggs engine to it although it will take some rewiring and some work but it can be done good luck
