I just purchase a new self propelled lawn mower (TORO, model 20371, Serial 312000001). i notice that it has a motor power by Kohler and not a brigg & stratton when the lawn mower that was on display had written "power by Brigg & Stratton". Are they the same? Is it the same quality and easy to find parts and repair like the Brigg & Stratton? Whats the differences? I really would like to know.
Thanks

Not an expert but I would feel fortunate to have a Kohler vs Briggs. I have a 22" Toro personal pace with a Tecumseh and have had no issues in its 8 years. I also have a John Deere with a Briggs. Insert issues!! I would say be glad you have a Kohler but as for the differences and opinions aside, I'm not sure
The display model was from last year and the model you purchased is a 2012 model. Are they the same? No. The Kohler is manufactured in China to Kohler's spec. Toro has discontinued using B&S engines on their lower end models this year and if things go good for them they will probably start using them on 90% of their push mowers by 2014. I don't know about the Kohler engine, but the Toro engineered engine has a cast iron sleeve, ball bearings instead of bushings on the crankshaft, better cooling setup.
