I recently replaced head gasket on my 19 hp bs engine.. When inserting push rods I turned engine by hand to make sure rods were in groves. I obviously messed up timing when I did this. How do I get it back in time? thanks in advance. KLN

You can't change the timing just by chainging head gasket. About the only thing you can do is get the valve clearances out of adjustment. Make sure they are both .004-.006 with the piston 1/4 inch past top dead center on power stroke (both valves closed)

Don't know for sure as to which engine you have, but if you had one push rod aluminum and one push rod steel, make sure that you reinstalled the steel one with the exhaust valve. Other wise just follow IL's instruction and you should get the engine running.

Yeah thanks I realized I didn't affect timing after I thought about it. However, still won't start. Does an occasional pop when turning over.. Seems to have oil coming out exhaust. The exhaust valve is very loose. How do I adjust it. It seems to be as closed as it will go.
