Took to local repair shop for a tune up. Didn't have the time myself. Mower is now eating twice as much fuel as before. Shop states it did nothing to change that.....

MAybe the float in the carburetor is set too high?

There is no way that an engine could consume twice as much fuel and still run smooth. It has to be leaking, not burning it

Those old lawnboys are bad to leak fuel from the carb onto the deck in such small amounts at a time it dries up as it leaks out the carb. The air filters are the same color as the fuel mix when you check them. There is a stain on the deck as well. Just shut the fuel off when you park it.

That is what I have been thinking. The instructions for the carb say level. I'll have to check it but what calibration should I use????

Wouldn't make any difference, the float just controls the fuel going to the bowl, not on the running of the engine.

Well if it was set to high, then the excess fuel would dump through the overflow into the engine....

It would also sit there and flood when not running all over the place.

It is definitely burning the fuel. On this model there is no shut-off. It would actually have enough fuel for one and a half times the lawn. Now it only does half the lawn.
