This is a Model 135-292-0158-01, 5 hp B & S horizontal shaft motor.
This motor has a very simple throttle linkage but I can not figure it out.
This motor is about 25 years old and on a Troy-Bilt tiller that has seen
very little use. I have the linkage installed correctly, I think. but there is 1
small spring that should hold the governor arm down until the throttle is opened.
Some details, the choke is mounted on the carb and the throttle is mounted
on the tiller handles. The spring should hold the governor arm down until
the throttle lessens the tension on the spring and that allows the governor arm to rise
and increase the engine speed. My question is, how does that spring attach to the
throttle slide and to the governor arm?? Any way I install it does not work and the spring
usually falls off. The motor starts and runs with no problem except the throttle.
