I have a Dixon Speed ZTR 54" with a Briggs and Stratton 22 hp Extended life series. My throttle when I have it on full throttle it gets stuck in that position last few times it got unstuck on its own but yesterday I had to loosen the cable clamp/holder, Althought my choke cable is fine. The throttle cable past right under the OHV cover and the plastic covering is kind of melted. Would I need to replace it or what is the best scenerio? ( I have pics here of it at the bottom if you need better ones Just ask I can post some new ones)
I would try to get some lubricant into the cable. It may get messy, easiest way might be to take it off the carb. Penetrating oil, PB Blaster, WD-40, I have even had luck by soaking with motor oil.
If attempts to salvage the present cable are successful or if those salvaging attempts fail and you must replace it consider encasing it in aluminum foil as a heat shield in that area.
