so I went to bid a new customer for next season. meet with the "decision maker" ect. long story short this is what I saw on the way out. all I could think was why do some companies do stuff like this? this one should be easy to snag, this is how my company presents itself. clean employees, clean equipment, and a clean job.

Was just thinking about this today. Saw a company mowing a super market. Guy was mowing with chute up on a five foot strip of grass with lot on one side and sidewalk on other. As I drove by he was Turing and I thought if this idiot hits my car I'm gonna stop and raise hell.

I mow for a government agency. Chutes always down. Pedestrian comes by we kill blades within 50'. Required to wear hard hats, reflective vest, long pants, boots, agency shirt, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Gloves are recommended. Guys complain. I tell them we are professionals.

There are a lot of things that LCO's do that Irk me but just because it Irks me doesn't mean I have the right to complain. Not that what happened to the vehicle was right but it would be up to the owner of the vehicle to complain not another lawn-care company. I look at that and it's the same as looking at another LCO and knowing you could do and leave a better looking and more professional job for the client than he is doing and your work across the street shows that but yet the client he is servicing is satisfied with the work the guy is doing so who am I to complain and try to cut someones throat, it's just not ethical for a company to do.

If it was just a crew and not the owner I would send it to the owner by email not with my business name attached it would be good for the guy driving the mower to learn grow and not do it again

I disagree with that. I mean really how unethical can you be. You want to send the owner an email without your business name attached. You want to hide and complain about something that doesn't involve you in anyway. You don't even know who did it, maybe it was the owner or for that fact where it was done and your ready to throw the crew there under the bus.

That paint job tho...
How the hell can you possibly think that discharging on a car is fine?!? It is common sense!
Anyways, I admire the way you present yourself and the company. Always clean. I try to keep my stuff clean, but a black truck is always dirty.

Not about ethics at all. Someone is doing something wrong and risky the proper people need to be notified so it can be remedied and won't happen again. Not about being cutthroat at all I don't even want that kind of account ...

Nobody said discharging on a car was fine. I said Not that what happened to the vehicle was right but it would be up to the owner of the vehicle to complain not another lawn-care company. I think there are to many assumptions being made without proof to place blame on any one company.

I think you quoted the wrong person... I was just stating that discharging on a car is not a good idea. Wasn't picking on ya

I agree. How do you know the vehicle owner isn't an idiot and did it at home. I know if I came out to my vehicle looking like that I'd take it up with the company who owns/leases the lot.

It is about being ethical. You say someone is doing something wrong and risky the proper people need to be notified and if the owner of the vehicle in question wishes to follow proper channels the problem will be remedied by the Owner of the company. It's not up to you or me or any other lawn-care company to file complaints because they don't like what they see from another individual on a mower.

They don't wear safety glasses or dust masks. Doesn't irk me but makes me wonder why they don't protect themselves.

They are rough on the equipment. Employees often have little respect for their bosses' machines. I hate to see mowers abused I guess:mad:

first off I didn't seek them they called me. I didn't and won't attempt to low ball it just to under cut the company doing it. ethics? does anyone think this company wouldn't put themselves on a pedestal if the roles where reversed.

little back ground this was in fact done by the current LCO. it was the final straw that's why they call me. it was even done just a couple hours before I got there. the owner has been sent pictures complaints ect. I won't feel the least bit sorry when lose this contract.

I find it hilarious when an employee is driving the ztr so fast it barely even cuts the grass.
