The mower shuts off as I am sitting on it when I try to turn on the blades.

It is a John Deere LA175 and runs great...as long as I am simply driving it. As soon as I pull the lever to start the blades the engine quits. We checked out the mechanical potential problems and there are none. It mowed beautifully last week. What is causing the engine to stop when I turn on the blades?

Sounds like the seat safety switch is not working properly. Start by checking the connection under the seat.
