To all on the forum, Thanks for steering me to a Stens part that will work with my Weed Eater 261. I still don't understand why Weed Eater would try to force you to buy the complete transaxle when all you need is the drive wheel disc with the rubber. Especially since that part was defective from the start, and Weed Eater had to change to a different part in later versions since they had so many complaints and warranty repair. When I receive the part and do the repair, I will take photos, and post at a later date the details of the repair.
I noticed on the forum that there is also a Snapper part that when modified will work with the Weedeater. This part doesn't seem to match up with my model very well. Perhaps because of the change Weedeater made? With my model, it looks like if I used the modified Snapper part, then the inner disc and outer disc (Snapper part) would wind up bolted together which would eliminate any usage of the friction material between the two discs. Although bolted together might be a good thing. Just eliminate the limited slip portion of the design. But one post said that caused problems with the chain coming off.
Anyway, my Stens part will be here in a few days, and I will get started on it, and post the results.
