I have a troy-Bilt TB635EC and the pull string does not engage. I took it apart and one of the Metal pawls fell out and the other is missing. I am looking for 1-metal pawl and 2 of the c-clips. All I can find online are the plastic ones and I read that the metal ones and the plastic ones are not interchangeable? Can someone help? I do not want to have to buy a new Oil Pan assy. Thanks!

Then you really don't want to hear this. But if you want to repair this AC8 engine that is about your only option. MTD thinks we are too stupid to replace the pawls though what I am finding is the whole fan assembly needs replacing.

If you want a cheap fix just use a drill to start the engine.
Have you check dealers in your area who might have a junk unit laying around which you can get cheap for parts? I’m lucky to have the local recycling center within a mile of my home which has been invaluable when I need spare, NLA or PRICEY, parts. I fix things for the manager and am able to savage what ever I want.

so I looked up the model number online and it is a string trimmer. Is this correct? If so the whole starter assembly is only $20.
