TB-30R (2020) oil change plug cross threaded 🤬

Was changing the oil on my TB-30R (2020- model 13A726JD023) and somehow messed up the internal threads when I was reinstalling the oil drain plug. Not sure how to fix this so any advice would be appreciated. ChatGPT suggests a thread chaser and if that doesn't work use a tap. But I have no idea which ones to use because I cant find any tech specs anywhere in the TB-30R documents. like what size thread chaser? what size tap?

As easy as this thing was to get damaged, I know I am not the only one to mess up the threads on the TB-30. I contacted a lawn mower mechanic in my area and he said he didn't have a tap that size but didn't specify size.. So need help resolving this problem. Attaching photos to help determine solution. Never had to fix damaged threads before so don't know what I am doing yet. Thanks in advance for help figuring this out.

UPDATE: Found a guy that had a tap and knew how to fix it so we got it fixed. I installed one of those oil change hoses so I wouldn't have to risk messing up the threads again in the future and oil changes on mower are a lot less messy.

Need to know which engine you have model number wise but thinking it is going to be 3/8 NPT threaded.

Heli-coil or retap yours. Little pipe dope should keep her dry.

Might have to flip the engine over to keep metal chips near the plug opening. Going to make a mess.

1/2" or 3/4" impact?

This is the tool I use, but it doesn’t work you’ll have to install a heli-coil as stated. https://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-6...ocphy=1028202&hvtargid=pla-2281435179498&th=1

that is messed up. Take the drain plug to your flaps and ask them for a thread chaser that size. Frankly I think you are looking at a helicoil or threadcert. You may not have cross threaded it, just way over tightened it until it stripped,
