Found this forum and hope I staggered to the right place. I am pretty green when it comes to small engine repair so bare with me .... I found a rough cut Swisher mower with a blown engine (10.5 Briggs). My buddy has a riding mower with a (17.5 Briggs) that he let roll over the hill and smack a tree. Sooooo I bought the rough cut mower in hopes of swapping engines. A few bolts and lining up pulleys and done right? Wrong! It wasn't so catastrophic of a mess that I couldn't at least give it a try. Issue 1.......Swisher 10.5 had a fuel pump....riding mower was gravity fed. I was surprised to find that that gas tank bracket as well as the fuel pump off the old engine bolted right up to the new mower. All gas lines were then connected to the transferred pump and the carb. Will the pump from the old motor work? I also swapped out the muffler from the old motor to the new. Keep in mind this is from a 10.5 to a 17.5 but everything seemed universal. Gonna get into how to hook up the electric start from the old riding mower later. Baby steps.....and thanks for any help
