My dad has an older SW48-14KA that was running for hours and then I loaded it on trailer and when I brought it off it won't run. No spark to the plug. I checked the on off switch with a volt meter which is good but I am not sure how to trouble shoot from here on out. It is a pull start and does not have the hours meters. It is the belt driven and not the hydrostatic drive version. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot? The leaves our getting thick here in Indiana and I need to get it running.

There were 4 engines used on that model, a 13HP Kohler CV13, a 15HP Kohler CV15, a 12.5hp Kawasaki FB460, and a 14hp Kawasaki FC420V, do you know which one you have?
Kohler's model and spec numbers are usually printed on a silver tag stuck to the blower housing, usually on the command engines it's above the muffler side of the engine.
Kawasaki also puts theirs on a tag on the blower housing.

It has the Kawasaki FC420V. I am getting no spark at the plug.

Somewhere there should be a tag on the engine with the model info, after the model number (FC420V) there should be another series of numbers, "FC420V-DS08" or other 4 digits.
I'm willing to bet if this one has an Ignitor that it's bad. But more testing is required i would say.

The tag reads CODE FC420V-DS09 and E/NO FC420V201525
