Hey folks. I recently acquired the above listed model. the upper bearing appears to be seized, i havent pulled it apart yet, but is this bearing removable, or do you have to get a new case? i have a seal kit ready to order, but i dont see a separate bearing to replace on this particular model.

thanks in advance

a lot of small engines rarely use bearings, except for ball bearings usually on the PTO side to support the load. In this case it may just be the crankshaft journal and the aluminum block. No bearing.
and looking at the IPL, just a seal.
As for the new case, you might can find one, but it said to use a shortblock , which is all the internals assembled, just swap over your heads, flywheel, carb, etc.

so what your saying is might not actually be a typical bearing? its just the oil seal? those short blocks are expensive. I was looking at the service manual(online) and it mentioned if the main bearing is out of spec to replace the crankcase(at least thats what i got from reading it.

Your engine is designed to use aluminum bushings bored into the crankcase and crankcase cover, no bearings. May I ask is how you determined that it was seized into the crankcase, without opening it up? Might be the connecting rod seized on the crankshaft. Before spending any money on parts, I would would recommend that you open up the engine and find your problem. How you proceed is your choice.

We haven't cracked it open yet, but it appears it may be time for some exploratory surgery to find out exactly what is going on!

Turns out it was in fact seized and has a crack in the crankcase. RIP
