As you know, I’ve been trying to replace the blown Honda gxv670 in my hustler super z mini. I found a good Briggs and Stratton 24HP vtwin with less than 100 hours for $170 and I’m trying to adapt it to work. One of the problems is this is my first ztr that I’ve worked on and there are relays for just about everything. The old Honda had no regulator, just 2 AC wires going to the built in hustler rectifier/regulator. However, my Briggs has a rectifier/regulator on the side, and a DC charging wire coming off the engine. Do I just not use the hustler rectifier, or do I find a way to wire in the DC Briggs wire??? I have 2 purple wires joined on an eyelet connector, an orange bullet connector, a brown bullet connector, a red wire with a black tracer, and the 2 gray wires with a purple tracer. I also need to add a typical starter solenoid. Anyone got some good info?

As I don't know so I need the Hustler model number to look up the electric schematics.

I simply don't keep track of single post as there is no way as I have other more pressing matters here like doing a quad electrical bypass on a Z950R.

First remove the mower's old regulator and tape the wires so they don't short out on anything.

Now to the Briggs regulator. One way is to connect solid purple 14 ga wire at the old regulator to the Briggs regulator output wire. Or simply connect the Briggs regulator output wire to main starter post IE battery cable leaving the purple wire taped up..

The brown wire 18 ga is the mower side kill wire for the ignition coils. Connect to the Briggs ignition kill wire.

The red with black tracer 18 ga is the starter solenoid trigger wire. Wire in a remote starter solenoid and connect the Red/Black trigger wire the solenoid trigger terminal.

The yellow 18 ga wire if present is the oil pressure light wire.

There should also be a orange 18 ga wire for the engine carburetor's fuel solenoid. Briggs tend to use a grey wire for this.

Here is the reference wiring diagrams Basically the Briggs is wired as the Kawasaki.
