stihl trimmer fs80-r string not comming out when I tap it

I just bought a used stihl fs80-r trimmer.
It starts and runs great but I'm unable to get the string to come out when I tap it on the ground.

I've attached a picture of the bottom of the trimmer. It looks worn but I'm not sure if the entire spool needs to be replaced.

If a need a new part, does it need to be made by stihl?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Got to your local Stihl dealer and buy buy a new head assembly. I've never seen a trimmer head in this bad of condition. I personally would never purchase used equipment from anyone who abused it as the previous owner did with this trimmer.:thumbdown:

On some brands you can simply replace the 'bump knob". Refer to the user manual and/or check with your Stihl dealer.

I think they are designed to wear out quick, I have 2 Stihl FS80s, both have to have complete new heads, bump knob wears down until you can't get enough bump to engage release
I think new Heads cost $55 each

Most of the trimmers problems are in the strings. I got rid of all of that are put on a Pivotrim.
Best thing I did for the trimmer!!
Plus it costs less than a new head assembly.
Good luck
