Stihl MS180 switch

The on / off / choke switch on my MS180 chainsaw has an annoying habit of popping out of its plastic seat. This means that once the engine is running, it is impossible to switch off without removing the cover to re-seat the switch in its clip-in base.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did you do ?

For some reason the ignition switches on some Stihl products don't last. I keep several in my parts stash. However I do like most Stihl products but I prefer Husqvarna chain saws to Stihl chain saws. For me it is more of the way they handle in use than a product quality issue.
Your saw may just need a new switch or the housing in which the switch is installed may have been damaged to the point that the switch will no longer remain secure in it's position.

Solved it.

The spring had become deformed, and was lying under the trigger "axle". Once I had popped the axle out it's housing, pulled up the spring, straightened it (using long nose pliers), and replaced the axle, it worked fine. Sprayed a little WD40 on it too to lubricate.
