Just bought an FS 56 trimmer today. Used it in my back alley trimming up my insanely tall grass. Kept getting my string yanked off (guess I'm not that good with it yet) and when I went to work on it, I noticed the (is it a bearing or a gearbox at the bottom of the shaft there?) was quite hot - very hot to the touch. I am assuming this is not a good thing.

Is this normal? Fill me in.

Thanks.

I will check on FS 55 next time I use it. But the FS 56's are not greasable like my 55 I would think it would be warm.

Friction makes heat all my trimmers and edgers get hot when used and yes they get greased. That heat is the reason they should be greased. And all trimmer shafts can be greased simply remove the trimmer head/year box from shaft shove some good grease in there and reattach
