Hello All Stihl

This BR-400 is all OEM except for an aftermarket Carb FYI. The unit is probably 15-20 years old and is in great overall condition

ISSUE# 1
It appears to be running lean based on the white-ish flavor on the plug after a full-throttle run through the yard. Also, after 15 minutes at full-throttle, she idles low and will eventually quit. I tested the fuel line and it is good. There is no return line or primer bulb on this model. If I open-up the High mixture screw by a quarter or half turn to add more fuel at full RPM, RPMs lower considerably, so not a remedy. I would imagine that air is getting in somewhere, like at the Crank Seal(s)?

ISSUE# 2
With the OEM Carb installed, it would start, run for a few seconds then quit. I ran that carb's parts through my UltraSonic Cleaner more than once with no change. Upon reassembly, I typically start with both High & Low mixture screws at 1.5 turns out then adjust accordingly. In this case, I opened up the Low mixture a full 2 turns or more in effort to deliver more fuel at start-up and still no change. Starts and dies
