stiga 540 dpx belt getting very hot

Hi my 2018 stiga 540 dpx PTO drive belt gets very hot after 5 minutes of use ( too hot to touch ). The previous belt suddenly snapped it had worked great for 2 years . I've just replaced it and the new belt gets really hot. The other 2 belts on the mower get slightly warm . Any ideas what the problem could be ? .

Check or replace all the idler pulleys on that belt. You probably have a bad bearing in one of them. They were all put on on the same day so if one is bad chances are any others will go soon.

If the other belt are not getting hot i would change the pulley item number 2 as it is the only idler on that belt and see if belt stops running hot

Another thing is a possible too short of a belt length if after market belt was installed. One supplier of mine was constantly sending belts stated to be the correct when in fact they 1-2 short.
