I recently acquired a 16 hp Briggs Lawn tractor. It is a Western Auto rider. It has sat for several yrs. It was covered with an old tent, so mostly protected from the elements. What would your recommendation be for prepairing to start this beast. It does have an electric start on it.

First and most important. Get the model number off the engine and see if they sell parts for it. If they do not then do not waste your time. If they do then continue on.
Remove and ultrasonically clean carb. Check for the engine being frozen. Change all fuel lines. Clean out the gas tank.
DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER ON THAT OLD OF A CARB. It will destroy every gasket on it.
