iam working on an old cub cadet 143-653-100 16 hrs briggs two cyl.
would not turn over. on the solanoid there is two places one for the starter the other for the battery. there is also another one that usually goes to the switch. but this one hasent any wire going from it.
it also has a ing modual. i jumped the switch to the post on the solanoid and got it to start but i can't get it to shut off unless you pull the plug wire off. i tried shorting out the coils but it still will not shut off. it has thoes diode wires on the coils.

I'll try to explain this in steps. 1. Battery positive goes to large terminal on solenoid. 2. Other large terminal on solenoid goes to the starter. 3. From the large terminal on the solenoid where the large wire from the battery is connected, you should have a small wire going to the B terminal on the key switch. 4. From the S terminal on the key switch you will have a small wire going to the small terminal on the solenoid. 5. From the M terminal on the key switch you should have a small wire going to the kill terminal on the coil. 6. Battery negative terminal should go to a clean chassis ground. This is a basic set-up, yours will have more wires for the safety circuits. I hope you were not trying to short the wire with the diodes in them. They are for the charging circuit, and you may have blown the diode or shorted the stator.
