I have a murry with a 17.5 briggs engine.the wires got chewed by mice and the owner told me it runs when jumped from the solenoid.it has a two prongs and a tab that use to connect to the ignition.if I buy a heavy duty starter button and connect it to the tab and the other to the positive battery it should start or am I wrong

That sounds right from your description. I have one on my Craftsman lawn tractor and it works fine and has for quite some time.

It will be the tab you use to jump the solenoid with though. You can come directly from the battery or from the battery cable on the solenoid.
