I bought a brand new st100 walk behind trimmer last week. I noticed right off the batt as soon as I started it that something seemed off. For one its really quiet, I don't know if its supposed to be that quiet or its not running at its highest rpm but it just doesn't seem powerful. When I started using it on 4' tall grass and some thicker weeds I noticed yes it does cut but I feel not to its full potential. The motor will rev up to what seems like a good rpm but as soon as the string makes contact with any resistance it slows down to the point where you can actually see the string spinning, slapping against the thicker stalks. The motor also sputters and surges from time to time. I used regular gas, I hope that's just the issue and not something more serious like I said its brand new. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

a 140cc is a pretty wimpy engine for a walk behind string trimmer. But don't mess with it as it has a three warranty and you should let the dealer look at it.
