Is it imperitive that I replace my spindle on an ISX 800 with own cast iron or are there other cheaper alternatives that will last as long

or simple rebuild the spindles you have. Most times all that is needed is bearings (6305-Z). These spindles uses single sided metal shielded bearings so the 6305-ZZ would need one side removed or you can purchase the bearing with the shield removed at a higher cost.

if you go new, I'd check out Oregon, their stuff lasts me 2-3 times longer.

Am not familiar with the exact spindle but would one not prefer a sealed bearing over a shielded bearing? Sealed on the outer side? A shielded bearing leaves an opening for stuff to get in/out.
