I'm worried that the brown patches on my lawn are due to sod web worms (lawn moths). I've not seen any hard evidence but my kids claim they have. Is there anything non chemical I can do to eliminate this problem before they dig in for the winter?

If you click here you can read a really good article about it and watch a video. You might have them if you start noticing patches in the spring. But the worst damage they cause is around this time of year.
Pretty good info there. Sounds like it is not to late for you to treat your problem if you get on it right away. You might just have enough time to make a solution.
my sister had a similar issue, she thought it was crows, perhaps she was wrong and this was her issue, I will have to send her this link to watch for sure.

Thanks a million for the link. It does sound like we have unwelcome visitors. Luckily the lawned area is well cared for but it does get a lot of sun. I will look out for the insecticide mentioned, I would prefer not to use chemicals but needs must.
