Sod cutter stalls when operated off level

I have an older sod cutter with a B&S 6.5 motor, model # 115432 0530 A 1, that stalls when tilted/ operated off level. Figured it ws an oil guard sensor but could not find one. Any ideas?

Float level set too low in carb. Could be cause from a seat that is swelling also.
