I have a Craftsman 22 inch snow thrower that has been giving me fits for a few years. I've replaced the carburetor and it will start and run, but as soon as it sees snow it dies. Fuel is clean and fresh. Carb linkages are where the factory put them. I've never messed with the governor.

5 hp Tecumseh, 12 cu inch. Part numbers cross reference to an HSSK50. I'm the original owner, probably 15 years now. The machine is in good mechanical condition otherwise, but rather useless in its current state.

I have the tech manual, and other than carb adjustments, it's telling me to check valve lash? Is that where you guys would go next?

TIA

Absolutely, check valve lash & adjust if necessary, this should be done at least every other year.
