Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knew what this mower should sell for? It looks in good shape about 1200 hours, 21 HP Kubota diesel, 52" deck, with an electric height control for the deck. He thinks it is a 1999 or 98. I am concerned about the age of this mower. He said last year he put a new transmission in it as it wasn't driving straight ($1,700). I am not sure if it was one or both hydros ber replaced or rebuild.

I am a little worried about the joystick contol as not to many compies use this over the two lever control. They guys said he has done all of the maint. and it cuts and runs great.

I would like a new Grasshopper but can't afford one. He wants $2,500. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

SS

no idea but I believe the stick is the least of the questions. I used a snapper with a joystick for 15 years and never had an issue. I think the normal things to check would apply here... how well maintained was it, what kind of shape are the spindles and hydros in? Any wiring issues? Diesel run ok?

Any suggestions on how to test those things? Are there specific things I can look for? Or should just a good testdrive looking at the quality of cut and seeing how the mower operates should do it. How many more years of life if everything checks out how many more year should I expect? Last. Thing I want is to buy another project that I am fixing every week.

They say diesels will run for ever as long as they have clean fuel and oil changes. do all the grease fittings look liek they have been serviced? do the tires look like they have life? do the hydros whine when going forward or backing up? I did find this owners manual online... Owner's Manual - SNAPPER Lawn, Riding Mower Rear Engine ZF2100DKU, ZF2300GKU, 4-5182 - ManageMyLife.com

I would go over the mower with a fine toothed comb. Your the only person who can really decide.

I also found this mower on craigslist for comparison...
