On my Snapper YT12' it has a twin cylinder 12,5 B&S with horizontal shaft. The starter teeth are worn out. I cannot see a way to remove the starter without hoisting the motor. Am I missing something? There must be an easier way. This mower is supposedly the same as the Holland YT12 if that is helpful.
I need a YouTube for engine removal. Amateur at best, but I can follow a recipe. My 1/2 inch ratchet wrench is sitting comfortably on the starter bolt, waiting for me to lift the engine so it can be removed.
It's not hard at all. Remove the hood (IIRC, no tools required), disconnect throttle cable, fuel line, a couple of wires, and unbolt the drive shaft. The mule drive on the front will come off as an assembly, without even removing the belt. After that, just remove the four bolts from the bottom of the engine and lift it out.
